Overview of Changes Made (Change Logs)

All changes made in the Edit Portals — whether directly in the portal interface or via Excel export/import — are logged. These changes are retained permanently. To ensure high performance when displaying changes, they are written in a rolling weekly manner. This means that in the Edit Portal you see only the changes of the current week. You can view these data at any time via the User Menu under “Edit-Logs” (see illustration).

NOTE: Using ADIB, you can very easily create a “changes portal” that displays ALL changes. There you can filter by the user who made the changes, by time period, by field, etc.

In the next illustration, you see the list of changes:

  • date: The date when the change was imported into the Edit Portal
  • Label: The designation (name) of the modified product
  • status: The status of delivering the change to the actual source (e.g., the Contentserv PIM system)
    • if empty: The changes have not yet been transmitted to the source
    • success: The changes were successfully transmitted to the source
    • error: There was a problem transmitting to the source
  • message: The message from the source during transmission of the changes from the Edit Portal to the source
  • processed_at: The date when the change was transmitted to the source (in our case, the Contentserv PIM)
  • modus: Describes which type of change was performed (delete, create, update, remove_reference, etc.)
  • target :
    • maintable: The change pertained to a product field itself (i.e., a top-level field)
    • subtable: The change pertained to a “Subtable” field
      • update indicates that a field in a subtable row was modified
      • create indicates that a new row was added to a subtable
      • delete indicates that a row in the subtable was deleted
  • ID: The ID of the product
  • ID_new: In the case a new product was created, it receives a “temporary ID.” This ID will be replaced, when writing the change to the source, by the ID assigned by the source itself.
  • subtable_id: The ID of the subtable row. Likewise, when a new row is created, a “temporary ID” is generated and later replaced automatically.
  • changes: Via this button, you can view the detailed changes made.

The following illustration shows the change list BEFORE transmission to the original source.

The next illustration shows the change list AFTER transmission to the original source.

The following illustration shows the window with detailed information on a change. Here you even have the option to revert that change, provided the portal was configured with:

  • "show_reset_changes_button" set to 1/true
