Objectives and Benefits
Generally speaking, the ADIB Edit Portal is used for creating and maintaining arbitrary data (in the following often referred to as “product data,” since ADIB portals are frequently used as a product information management (PIM) system). These data can then, for example, be displayed in the ADIB search portals that users/customers access on the Internet. The Edit Portal includes features to write back changes to the original source at regular intervals.
Several variants exist, from which you can freely choose for the portal you are creating.
Edit Portal for Managing Excel/Database Tables
In many companies, Excel files are exchanged and supplemented by various people. The challenge remains to identify which version of the file/data is current. With ADIB Edit Portals, you can solve this problem elegantly, as the data reside centrally, and users can modify data only according to their permissions. In the ADIB portal, you always see the current data, which are regularly written back to the original source (e.g., a database table).
Edit Portal as Frontend to Your Database Application
The Edit Portal is an excellent complement or replacement for an outdated database application. You can continue to use your existing data structures and data, replacing only the frontend (e.g., an old client application based on Microsoft Access). This brings the major advantage that existing data remain intact and you do not need a lengthy migration project. At the same time, you can finally shut down the legacy system and replace it with a modern web application (the ADIB portals).
Edit Portal for the Contentserv PIM System
ADIB offers numerous functions that ensure seamless integration with Contentserv. With the “Contentserv Edit Portals,” you create a graphical frontend with significantly reduced complexity for the users who need to input data into the Contentserv PIM system. This feature is especially interesting when the affected users/user groups should only fill in a few fields (e.g., SAP numbers). The advantage in this case is greatly simplified access, so that training on the application is not required. This approach ensures integrated data and avoids redundant, error-prone manual data transfers that might otherwise be sent via email. Many renowned clients use this optimized solution for data collection.
Edit Portal as a Full-fledged PIM System
With the ADIB Edit Portal, you use ADIB as a full-fledged PIM system—allowing you to manage not only products but all types of data conveniently, securely, and flexibly. For this, there is a continuously growing set of relevant modules in the edit portals, adding important functions such as:
- Building a portal with protected access to various search/edit portals—comparable to “apps on a smartphone”—via the “Portalstation” module
- You can activate or deactivate these search/edit portals at will (even on a schedule) and augment them with icons and descriptive texts.
- Template Designer for generating (PDF/Word) documents containing product data—directly from the application
- Creation of “Shares” for sharing specific products with any email recipient
- Building workflows with the integrated workflow designer
- Adding custom functions with integration into your portals
