Backup and restore configurations

Backup and restore configurations

Existing job configurations – including the steps, step parameters and step positions they contain – can be saved at any time so that they can be restored later if necessary. The backups are stored in ADIB, but can also be saved as a file (with the extension ‘.adib’) and imported at a later date.

Creating such backups is particularly recommended when extensive adjustments to existing jobs/steps are pending. This allows you to test the new configuration and, if successful, save it for later activation.

Using this function is very easy. Go to the ‘Jobs’ administration area and click on the ‘Backup and Restore Wizard’ button. A window will open where you can

  • Create a new backup
  • Import an existing backup (from the list)
  • Import a backup saved as a file

If you create a new backup, add the following information

  • Name of the backup
  • Level of the backup – you can choose between jobs or steps
    • We recommend leaving the default value ‘Jobs’ as the level
    • At this level, the job is backed up together with all the steps it contains (including the step parameters and step positions)
  • Selection of jobs
    • Here you can back up all jobs – which can result in a large backup depending on the number of jobs
    • Or you can explicitly select one or more jobs

  • After you click on ‘Create backup’, the backup is created.
  • It is automatically added to the list of backups, which you can see in the ‘Restore’ tab (button to the left of ‘Backup’ in the upper area).
    • You also have the option of saving the backup as a file

Restoring the configuration of a backup

If you want to restore a backup, click on the ‘Restore’ button at the top of the screen

  • There you will see a list of the backups that have been created – which you can restore using the ‘Restore’ button
  • You also have the option of importing a backup stored in a file.

After selecting the appropriate backup, a mask appears in which you can define which data is to be restored and how

  • Backup Before Restore: first backs up the current configuration before importing the selected backup
  • Flexmapping List: should the flexmappings of the backup be imported?
  • Step Parameter: Should the step parameters of the backup be imported?
  • Step Position: Should the step positions of the backup be imported?
  • Restore Type: Defines how the data is restored
    • Ignore: Existing steps are NOT transferred ???? TODO Calo / Daniel
    • Insert: ???? TODO Calo / Daniel
    • Override: Existing steps – including parameters and positions – are overwritten

NOTE: Please note that depending on the size of the backup, the restoration process may take some time. You should not interrupt the process. Please be patient!
